Our proposal for a stand-alone project was successfully granted by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). By working with an interdisciplinary team at the intersection of chemoecology, microbiology, and molecular ecology, we aim at decrypting the semiochemical communication between microbes and the black soldier fly involved in oviposition. Advanced methods from each discipline will be used to achieve this ambitious goal. We expect that our results will contribute to the understanding of black soldier fly reproduction and provide means to improve industrial insect-farming.
